Tom Biondi, who is known in the art world as Tomasso, grew up in Palm Springs, CA, where he studied color and texture as an apprentice to his father, Quintino, a textile craftsman from the Molise region of Italy. Tom worked in the construction industry where he continually found artistic expression through experimenting with custom painting techniques and tweaking the principles of home design.
Tom morphed into Tomasso while attending an exhibit of the works of Picasso in Los Angeles. After viewing many of the Spaniard’s iconic and unique pieces, Tom strode to the middle of the gallery and proclaimed, “I can do that – I’m Tomasso!”
Tomasso has travelled extensively absorbing the essence of numerous cultures and adapting new ways to envision his art. The artist is not tied to any one medium, instead preferring to let ingenuity and inspiration drive him to continually explore new techniques. He is particularly fond of using reclaimed everyday items to create one-of-a-kind pieces.
Move over Picasso, here comes Tomasso!
